KCSD to keep schools closed Wednesday

Kershaw County School District (KCSD) schools and offices will be closed yet again Wednesday due to the effects of freezing temperatures. KCSD Communications Director Mary Anne Byrd sent the following statement to the media mid-afternoon Tuesday:

Scholastic press honors

The Lugoff-Elgin High School 2010 yearbook staff received an All-State rating from the South Carolina Scholastic Press Association for the 2010 Messy yearbook. In addition to receiving the highest ranking possible, the staff also won the Palmetto Award for creating the best book in its particular state division. Poetry Alive

Third- and fourth-grade students at Lugoff Elementary School recently had the opportunity to take part in Poetry Alive. Ken and Nadine Delano demonstrated how to take a simple poem and make it come alive. The fourth- grade students in Tonya Seay's class enjoyed getting to act out a poem in front of their peers. Poetry Alive was brought to Lugoff Elementary School through the Artist in Residency program of Kershaw County.
