‘Virals’ author to speak to KCSD students

Adults may know Temperance Brennan from the book and TV series "Bones," but for Kershaw County School District (KCSD) students taking high school English classes, her great-niece Tory is more familiar. That's because "Virals," written by Brendan Reichs along with his mother, Kathy, the author of the Bones series, was their required summer reading assignment. And starting this week, those students will have the opportunity to meet the young author.

KCSD looking to improve school libraries

Libraries in Kershaw County school's may be enhanced in the near future thanks to the Kershaw County School District (KCSD) having about $500,000 left over from its 2014-15 school year. KCSD Chief Financial Officer Donnie Wilson said the savings came in part from a flexibility proviso the Kershaw County Board of School Trustees approved during a recent meeting.

L-EHS, CHS raise more than $60,000 for UWKC

KC youth attend Boys, Girls State

Kershaw County students who attended this year's Palmetto Boys and Girls State programs attend a joint picnic at the State House. Kershaw County's American Legion posts and auxiliary units -- 17, 195 and 203 -- sponsored the youth to attend what is one of the most prestigious programs for rising seniors in the state. Anderson College served as the site for Palmetto Boys State, while Presbyterians College served as the Palmetto Girls State site. Both programs took place June 7-13.
