Morgan's contract extended to 2016

Kershaw County School District (KCSD) Superintendent Dr. Frank Morgan's contract has been extended an additional two years. The Kershaw County Board of School Trustees on Tuesday approved extending the contract from June 30, 2014, to June 30, 2016. The 7-2 vote, with trustees Nissary Wood and Dr. Don Copley opposed, followed an executive session.

Students in Sharon White's second block World History class at Lugoff-Elgin High School concluded their study of the Enlightenment Period by attending White's Chocolate House. Students began the project in the library media center researching a specific topic from the 1700s. Each student created a newspaper with their topics being the focus of the front page. For the back page, students wrote advertisements for newly developed products. Facilities equalization review starts with WES

Third graders participate in summer reading program

Third graders from around Kershaw County recently completed the county's first summer reading program. Students came to Jackson School for six weeks for classes that helped them improve their reading skills.
