All Kershaw County School District (KCSD) students and parents -- both new and returning -- should plan to attend registration later this summer at their children's schools.

New principals announced for CES, Pine Tree

Carol Przybyla and Melissa Royalty are the new principals for Camden and Pine Tree Hill elementary schools, respectively. The Kershaw County Board of School Trustees approved Przybyla as principal of Camden Elementary School and Royalty as principal of Pine Tree Hill Elementary School at its June 27 meeting.

Some SS/HS programs could end in 2014

Some programs will continue, some may change and some may close as funding ends for the Kershaw County School District's (KCSD) Safe Schools/Healthy Students grant in 2014. School board passes 2013-14 budget

The Kershaw County Board of School Trustees unanimously passed, 6-0, the Kershaw County School District's (KCSD) $69 million budget for the 2013-14 school year. Trustees Louis Clyburn, Don Copley and Nissary Wood were absent from the June 4 meeting at the district's offices.

Board of School Trustees set to approve new budget

The Kershaw County Board of School Trustees is set to approve its preliminary 2013-14 budget of around $69 million at its meeting Tuesday night. That is despite the fact that Kershaw County Council has yet to respond to the Kershaw County School District's (KCSD) millage request. In addition, as of Friday, South Carolina legislators had yet to pass the Fiscal Year 2014 state budget.

Christian Home Educators Camden celebrates five graduates

Christian Home Educators of Camden (CHEC) recognized five graduates at its 16th annual Night of Recognition May 24. The graduation ceremony was at Faith Church of the Nazarene in Lugoff. CHEC is a local home school support group with members hailing from Kershaw County and surrounding areas.

Gayle Pitts and ALPHA Center Executive Director Paul Napperrecently presented the annual Goldbash-Nash Memorial Ride Scholarships to graduating Kershaw County School District seniors at the ALPHA Center. This year's recipients are Kelly Duncan, Lugoff-Elgin High School ; and Mack Trapp, Camden High School. Accompanying Duncan were ATEC teachers Chet Horton and Jeff Cooper.
