KershawHealth donates temp monitors to KCSD

KershawHealth recently donated a number of temperature-monitoring devices to each of the three Kershaw County School District (KCSD) high school athletic departments. According to a KershawHealth press release, the devices are also known as Wet Bulb Global Temperature (WBGT) monitors, and are used to measure safety conditions for practice and competition during times of high heat and humidity.

JTC hosts opioid summit

In addition to her position as KershawHealth's chief medical officer, Dr. Tallulah Holmstrom continues to be a practicing physician in Lugoff. During an opioid summit hosted by the Jackson Teen Center (JTC) on March 26, Holmstrom said her viewpoint of the opioid crisis is that of a local doctor who has seen the effects of such drugs in Kershaw County since she began her practice in the mid-1990s.

The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit health care ratings organization, recently released new Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades. The Safety Grade assigns letter grades of A, B, C, D and F to hospitals nationwide based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms. KershawHealth was one of 832 awarded an "A" for its commitment to keeping patients safe and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S.
