I write this letter in response to an article in your paper entitled "Episcopal Church is right to recognize gay unions." It saddens me to read once again of supposed "Christians" approving of what the Bible clearly says is wrong. "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God." Corinthians 6:9-11.
The taxpayers of Kershaw County have been given another "sewer" tax bill to pay until the end of time. A "solid waste" fee. This was a "slam dunk" proposal for the citizens of our county just like the sewer fee that is most certainly and can be called an illegal tax. This was introduced by the former council chairman. He left before the 1-cent tax was introduced. The fee for solid waste was not established before a vote was taken. This question was a foregone conclusion before a vote was taken. A question was asked some time ago to the ...
This is in response to the article in the Chronicle Independent on Friday, July 20, 2012. County Council Vice Chairman Sammie Tucker Jr. was quoted as saying he did not have "ready access" to a computer. Thus the reason he had not filed appropriate paperwork for his position on Kershaw County Council. I would like to take this opportunity to inform Mr. Tucker that we, Kershaw County, have a public library with "ready access" to computers. The hours are as follows:
It is truly "unthinkable" that the Kershaw County Democratic Party would certify Sammie Tucker Jr. as a candidate for public office. To entertain that idea is ludicrous! To readily admit to people that he is not only an incumbent candidate for office but is actually the current Kershaw County Council Vice Chairman should be embarrassing to all citizens of Kershaw County. Realize, too, that Mr. Tucker is set to have no opposition!! Have our citizens completely given up on our political system? Are they now satisfied to let "whatever happens happen?"
To Kershaw County Council Members:
There's an old story about a mule that fell into a hole. The farmer kept shoveling dirt in the hole. The mule packed it down until it got out! The mule rose above its circumstances. Many times we can also rise above our circumstances.
The latest research indicates that tourists are traveling to historic and unique environmental destinations by the thousands. For example, millions of people visit Williamsburg, Va., annually. Congaree National Park attracts a multitude of visitors each year. However, according to the latest records, only 20,000 people visited Historic Camden this past year.
Well let's get these ridiculous and embarrassing law suits going again. Get them back on course! They are such a good use for our country's image and above all, a great way to spend our tax dollars. Our county needed a sheriff change and now that Jim Matthews has become our sheriff and seems to be doing all the right things for all of us, he seems to have upset our country's "good ole boys."
President Obama has shown a willing to stand up, speak out and to take definitive act even in the face of political and social risk for the health needs of the poor and other who has been locked out and price out of access to health care before fulfilling his own political ambition.
My name is Betty Wright and I live in Granite Falls, N.C. My family received an emergency phone call from a relative in Camden. I wanted to do something for our relative, and secured the name of JJ Flowers and Gifts from information.
The front page of the July 2 issue chronicles (no pun intended) the lengthy criminal record of a (drive-by shooting) suspect, Bobbin, that includes 10 offenses, including five with a weapon.
It is a sad day in America, which is supposed to be land of the free and home of the brave when so many people have voted for no prayer in schools and no National Anthem and if they do they wind up getting sued by someone has never had a personal relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We even have a book, The Holy Bible, to go by, and I want to say to the people who deny him in front of other people. The Bible says and this is Jesus speaking "If you deny me, I ...
Wake up, Kershaw County: your taxes are going up!
(Mr. Humphries' letter has been updated to include the word "not" in the first sentence of the seond paragraph in relation to Mr. Allen's original letter.)
I was saddened by the choice of the senior(s) of the graduating class in (the) Lexington (school) district, but rejoice with the students who chose to include the "Invocation" in their program. But even more saddened hearing and reading in the Chronicle (that) Camden High chose to omit prayer and the "National Anthem" during their graduation ceremonies.
