Recent property reappraisal
I recently received my updated property appraisal notice and was quite surprised. I was surprised with the reassessment because the value is higher than previous years. And although we've maintained the property in good shape we have not made any expansions or improvements. KershawHealth decisions impact employees, patients
As a volunteer at KershawHealth, I agree with Bob Dornblaser. We do take jobs away from employees. However, if we all resigned, the hospital leadership would not rehire those employees. The patients would suffer. The employees who depend on our help would suffer. Amy Kinard, the new volunteer director who had nothing to do with this mess, would suffer.

What next, Camden?
I thought the hospitality tax was to be used to bring in tourists. How will the YMCA do this? Who will be willing to travel to Camden just to work out, or to take a swim? Are the people just outside the city limits the tourists the city is counting on? Those of us who don't live in the city limits still pay the hospitality tax because we have no choice; if we want to enjoy the local businesses there, we have to just go along.
YMCA can be new resource for young, old
Today was the last "Lunch and Learn" at the Health Resource Center. For so many in our community, it was a sad day. The center was a valuable asset to Kershaw County and will be dearly missed. A big thank-you to the wonderful staff.

Volunteering at KershawHealth
My wife and I have been volunteering for more than four years at KershawHealth. On Tuesday, May 17, 24 working people were let go. Through no fault of their own they were released of their jobs. My wife and I immediately resigned because we think we are taking jobs away from those workers. The hospital is very happy with their volunteers because it doesn't cost them anything.
