Security important across the board
We at Let Freedom Ring do want to publicly state what happened to Congresswoman Giffords and everyone in attendance at the "Meet the Congresswoman" event at a Safeway Grocery store in Tucson on Jan. 8 was a tragedy and we pray for the full recovery of all who were wounded and pray for the families of those who were slain. I ask the local Tea Party to also make similar public sentiments.

I had an old aluminum jon boat stolen from my property in late August of last year. Imagine my surprise when I received a call from Kershaw County Sheriff's Office Investigator Justin Dill Jan. 14, informing me that they had arrested the individuals responsible for the theft. Although the boat was not recoverable, the suspects were in custody.
Community makes positive change through election

Springdale traffic area poses numerous hazards
In addition to Steve Parrott's letter of Dec. 22th I would like to add my concerns about the dangerous intersection at U.S. 1 and Springdale Drive and the numerous accidents there. I am also a resident of the Springdale area and see logging trucks as a big problem, but so are other vehicles. School funds have specific uses
If people are going to criticize the school board and school district superintendent for how money is spent, researching first is in order. In South Carolina, facilities and personnel are separate "pots" of money and cannot be mixed. Spending money to build does not affect money for teachers.

County education leaders off course
If our school board and the superintendent of education spent as much time on education as they do on acquiring property, maybe we would be able to do a more credible job of education.
County government shut down for five days
It's the holidays and everyone enjoys being off of work and spending time with their family. So naturally the courthouse and Kershaw County offices were closed for five days straight. What? Yes, they were closed Dec. 23-27. Let me think … what holiday is the 27th? Oh yeah, it's the Monday after Christmas. Everyone celebrates that holiday, right? Even the banks can't close for more than three days in a row.

New swimming facilities needed
I am concerned about the future of the recreation facilities in Kershaw County. Much has been said and many things have been proposed. The county and the city must work together for a better Kershaw County.
