Cementing its spot for a second straight trip to the state 4A tennis playoffs, Lugoff-Elgin used a 5-1 win over visiting Blythewood on Thursday to put the Demons firmly in third place in the Region 4-4A standings with two conference matches left on the schedule.

Having seen some of the upsets in 4A first round baseball play in which fourth seeds defeated number-one seeds, Lugoff-Elgin head coach Randy Stokes was feeling pretty good about his team's 4-2 win over Laurens in the District IV opener.
