Pretty soon, the organizers of the Carolina Duals wrestling tournament might ask the Lugoff-Elgin Middle School wrestling team to bring the tournament championship trophy with them when they head to the yearly event in Rock Hill.

Facing a Lugoff-Elgin wrestling team which was at close to full strength and refocused, visiting Blythewood and Richland Northeast endured the full wrath from the Demons in Wednesday's Region 4-4A opener at the Demons Den.
Save for the use of a magic wand, there was no way for Lugoff-Elgin girls' basketball coach Von Duncan to turn her 5-foot-8 center, Nakeisha Counts, into a 6-foot-5 post player. Nor was there some potion which could transform her other players to become taller or faster with one sip of the elixir.

For the second time in three years, a member of the Lugoff-Elgin High School student trainers' staff has been selected to be a student athletic trainer for the South Carolina Shrine Bowl football team.
