After scoring 88 points in last Friday's win over Camden, the Lugoff-Elgin boys' basketball team came out on the short end of a 73-51 decision against host Brookland-Cayce in a Wednesday night non-region contest played in Cayce.
Heading into Saturday's inaugural Battle for the Belt wrestling tournament, Lugoff-Elgin Middle School head coach Ted Monroe's mission for his team was two-fold. First, they wanted to win the 16-team event and the other objective was to avenge a loss to Sullivan Middle School, which snapped the Leopards' 60-match win streak two weeks earlier.
Demons get sweep of Knights: Lugoff-Elgin bounced back from last Thursday's loss to Andrew Jackson by knocking off host North Central, 69-59, in Tuesday's boys' basketball action at The Castle in Boonetown.
Too little, too late. That's what it felt like for Demon fans at Lugoff-Elgin Stadium Friday night. On homecoming, Ridge View used a ground and pound attack in the second half to outlast the hosts in a tightly contested game, 24-16.
