Friday marks the final day to purchase discount general admission tickets to the Marion DuPont Scott Colonial Cup Steeplechase Races. The 41st edition of the Camden fall classic will be run over the Springdale Race Course on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Sheppard to be honored during Saturday’s races

Racing Hall of Fame trainer Jonathan Sheppard, who recently reached a milestone when he saddled his 1,000th steeplechase winner, will be honored at the Far Hills Races on Oct. 23. Sheppard, who has won more races over fences than any other trainer in the sport's long history, will receive a plaque honoring his accomplishment.

Sheppard reaches four figures, in style

A few years ago, Jonathan Sheppard noticed that he was approaching his 1,000th career steeplechase victory, although he did not believe that he would reach that milestone before 2011. But a spectacular season in 2010 placed him at that milestone mark on Sept. 25 when he saddled Hudson River Stables' Arcadius to win the $100,000 Helen Haskell Sampson Stakes (Gr. 1) at Monmouth Park.

Chasing on a Saturday suits Dubai Sunday just fine after his Colonial Downs victory

Irvin S. Naylor's Dubai Sunday opened a sizable early lead under jockey Darren Nagle and turned back a challenge by One Sea to win a $15,000 claiming hurdle by 4 1/2 lengths at Colonial Downs (Va.) on Saturday. Eagle Beagle finished third.

It was a good summer for Wooten Stable grads
