Finally Friday kicks off Cup Weekend at Town Green

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) kicks off its 2015 Finally Friday Free Concert Series with a special edition on Friday on the Town Green with local band KT & Friends. The concert will be held from 6 – 8:30 p.m. This special Pre-Carolina Cup Kick Off is made possible by the City of Camden, along with sponsors NBSC, Powers Funeral Home, Alpine Agency, Warrior Fitness Camden, Graham Realty, City Laundry and Cleaners and TruVista. The Town Green is located at 1015 Market Street behind the Old Armory in downtown Camden.

March is Youth Arts Month

March is Youth Arts Month and the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County is gearing up for a great month of celebrating youth arts. The month's events begin with the opening of the Youth Arts Month exhibition in the Bassett Gallery from 5:30-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 12. Gospel Fest is February 21

he Multi-Cultural Committee of the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) proudly announces plans for the annual Gospel Fest and Heritage Tea, as part of a celebration of Black History Month. The Gospel Fest will take place Saturday, February 21 at 6:00 p.m. All tickets are $8. Strike up the band!

The Camden Community Concert Band (CCCB) will kick off their 2014-2015 concert season with its first practice on Monday, Sept. 8. The CCCB, starting its 35th season under new conductor William J. "B.J." Brazier Jr. and assisted by Robert Wertz, is open to anyone who plays or has played a musical instrument in the past. The band needs to add players in all sections of the band, but especially percussion. No auditions are required and the rehearsal atmosphere is informal.

Carolina Downhome Blues Festival Set for 18th Year

Mark your calendars for the 18th Annual Carolina Downhome Blues Festival scheduled for October 2-4 in historic downtown Camden. This year's event will feature multiple performances at various sites, including The Venue on Broad, Old Town Tavern and a new site for the festival -- 833 South Broad Street. The Carolina Downhome Blues Festival is an award-winning event recognized for featuring legendary blues artists from around the globe.

Artist’s Attic welcomes Tari Federer -- ceramic artist, photographer, painter

Tari Federer of Florence joins the ranks of the Artist's Attic, an art studio located at 930 Broad St., in Camden. Federer discovered her talents as a photographer and painter, unexpectedly. After more than 40 years as a ceramic artist, she returned to school to complete her degree in Visual Arts.

Heritage Tea 2014 Winners Announced

The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County presented awards February 25 to Kershaw County students who participated in the 2014 Heritage Tea. Students in grades three through eight from across the county worked on projects reflective of cultural heroes and legends in celebration of Black History Month in an art project competition. Judges presented awards to all winners as well as to the teachers of first place winners. Organizers dedicated the Tea to the memories of Louisa Watkins, Harrison Bennett, Ruby Minton and the students of the Civil Rights movement.

Fine Arts Center to host SC Arts Alliance board meeting

The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County is proud to announce that it will be the location for the meeting of the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Arts Alliance (SCAA) beginning today. The meeting will be held in the historic Douglas Reed House. The FAC welcomes the SCAA, along with members of the Wateree Outdoor Life Festival (WOLF) of Camden. WOLF will be holding their first annual festival on the FAC campus this weekend.

CamdenART will meet Monday at 7p.m. The group will offer a unique wood burning demonstration and hands-on opportunity by gourd and wood burning artist, Linda Kincaid. CamdenART members will get a chance to try their hand at this precise and detailed art work.
