The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County presents Broadway Cabaret Night Thursday at 8 p.m. The event will be set up cabaret style on the stage of the Wood Auditorium. The Camden Community Concert Band held its organizational meeting and first rehearsal on March 10, 1980, with 52 members in attendance. The first concert was presented eight weeks later on May 4 as a part of Camden's Music, Arts, Drama (MAD) Festival.
Libby Ference of Camden was selected as September's Chance Art! winner. She won a pair of silver earrings handcrafted by artist Benira Sutphin. Chance Art! is a program sponsored by The Artist's Attic. A piece of art created by a local artist is given away to a lucky community member.
Habitat for Humanity of Kershaw County completed construction on its 34th home in the county last week and will begin working on its 35th home very soon. Habitat for Humanity of Kershaw County brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. The oroganization helps initiate partnerships between qualified families and community members, working together towards building a home.

Saturday night's Dancing with the Stars at the Fine Arts Center (FAC) event was, as volunteer services coordinator for the FAC Margaret Bishop said, "a great success!" Bishop commented that the show was met with "a sell-out crowd. It was a wonderful event for the FAC."
The South Carolina's Writer's Workshop (SCWW) has announced the list of contributors for the 2013 Petigru Review, the annual SCWW member anthology. Among the authors featured in Volume 7 of this anthology is local resident Bobbi Adams of Bishopville. Adams' essay "Scrambled Eggs" is included in the nonfiction section of Petigru Review.
The 2013 Petigru Review will be unveiled at the SCWW Symposium in Columbia, October 26. Submissions were judged and selections were made by Susan Williams, Mary Anne Benedetto and Celia Rivenbark for nonfiction. For more information about the SCWW visit www.myscww.org/conference.
The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County will hold its annual meeting on September 19 at 6 p.m. in the Jim and Pat Watts Performing Arts Wing of the FAC. Donors, friends, participants and volunteers are invited to gather as the FAC reviews its accomplishments in 2012-2013 and announces its plans for the upcoming 2013-2014 season, which will be the FAC's 40th year.
The birth of her first granddaughter Delilah inspired Sandra Thomas, originally of Elgin, to write her first children's book Grandma's Here. Thomas said, "I was sitting at home recuperating from a knee surgery so I was able to spend more time with her and seeing her grow and get into stuff filled my heart."
The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County is gearing up for its first ever fundraising performance of Dancing with the Stars. Several community members and professional dancers have volunteered their time to dance at this event.

The Dick Goodwin Big Band often plays for major social functions in the Southeast, but in concert this brassy ensemble programs a wild potpourri of styles -- numbers from the swing era and earlier, current tunes from sometimes surprising sources, and new music written especially for the ensemble.

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) kicks off its 2015 Finally Friday Free Concert Series with a special edition on Friday on the Town Green with local band KT & Friends. The concert will be held from 6 – 8:30 p.m. This special Pre-Carolina Cup Kick Off is made possible by the City of Camden, along with sponsors NBSC, Powers Funeral Home, Alpine Agency, Warrior Fitness Camden, Graham Realty, City Laundry and Cleaners and TruVista. The Town Green is located at 1015 Market Street behind the Old Armory in downtown Camden.
