‘Souper’ caring

The youth of Bethesda Presbyterian Church recently collected $2,464 and 188 food items for Food for the Soul as part of the church's 15th consecutive year of participating in the Souper Bowl of Caring. Since the early 1990s, young people have been leading the charge and inspiring others to collect dollars and food in advance of the NFL's Super Bowl. The annual Spring Coin Show of the Camden Coin Club will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Camden Recreation Department, 1042 West DeKalb Street, Camden. 100th day

Camden First Baptist Kindergarten and Child Care celebrated the "100th Day of School" on Jan. 25 by collecting at least 100 canned goods to help families in need. Eighty six students and 15 teachers collected 530 canned goods. A representative from Christian Communities Ministries food pantry, Kathleen Mahoney, came to collect the cans.

Elgin sees record year with Toy Round Up

During Elgin's January town council meeting, Elgin Police Department Police Chief Harold Brown reported that 65 families were served during Elgin's Toy Round Up -- a record. Brown also informed council that 152 children were served 49 food baskets distributed and 25 fruit baskets for senior citizens were distributed. Stover Middle School partnered with the EPD to assist with collecting toys.
