UWKC and FamilyWize Help Local Community Save $358,799 on Prescription Medications

United Way of Kershaw County and FamilyWize recently announced that local community members have saved $358,799 on prescription medications through the organizations' partnership. The results were revealed in the annual Health Impact Report, a compendium of data reflecting the health and financial support offered by United Way and FamilyWize in its joint community initiatives across the country.

Food for the Soul receives $35,000 donation from 1st Franklin Financial

Food for the Soul recently received a donation of $35,000 from 1st Franklin Financial to help with the shelter's operational costs. 1st Franklin Financial's Kershaw County representative, John Rice, said the company became involved with Food for the Soul after being introduced to it by Shelter Manager Jimmy Farmer.

WW-Lugoff Rotary Wild Game Dinner and Silent Auction set for April 23

The West Wateree-Lugoff Rotary Club's third annual Wild Game Dinner and Silent Auction is scheduled for 6 p.m., Saturday, April 23, at Old McCaskill's Farm on Cantey Lane, just south of I-20. Proceeds go to the West Wateree Rotary Scholarship Fund benefitting Lugoff-Elgin High School seniors.

Operation Hope

The Knights of Columbus recently presented the proceeds of this year's Operation Hope Tootsie Roll Drive to The Kershaw Center Disabilities Foundation (KCDF). Each year, the Knights hold Operation Hope, a fund drive during which members go into the community to collect donations. The Knights give Tootsie Rolls to anyone who makes a donation of any amount. This year, the Knights collected $3,625, which they presented to the KCDF to benefit citizens of Kershaw County living with physical and/or mental disabilities. MHBC will hold the event Saturday from noon until 6 p.m at the church, 1514 Malvern Hill Drive, Camden.
