Corrections and clarifications

Restaurant hours for Charlie's on Broad were incorrectly reported in the New Chamber Member Spotlight featured in the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce publication, The Connection, which was included in Monday's Chronicle-Independent. Charlie's, located at 1035 Broad St. in Camden, is open every day of the week -- Sunday through Saturday -- from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 5 p.m. until the last customer is served.

Every man on the dock had caught fish. One man caught more fish than the limit. The game warden checked around. He asked each man. "Are these your fish?" Of course everybody said it wasn't theirs. Finally the warden turned to a little boy who had been fishing. "Son," he asked, "have you caught any fish?" "No, sir," replied the boy. "I haven't even had a bite all day." "Here!" said the warden. "These must be yours."

A day for service

Lance Robinson marched through Camden Feb. 11 on his way to Columbia as part of his Brother to Brother Day March across America. While in Camden, Robinson was presented a plaque by Camden Mayor Jeffrey Graham. He, in turn, presented pins to Camden police and fire chiefs Joe Floyd and John Bowers, respectively. Robinson, a U.S. Marine veteran who served in the 1970s, hopes to visit every state capital in an effort to create a holiday to honor active duty military and veterans as one.

Commercial vegetable growers meeting Thursday

Clemson Extension Agent Tony Melton reminds local vegetable growers of the upcoming commercial vegetable meeting Thursday at the Compass Restaurant near Turbeville. The meeting begins at 10 a.m., includes lunch, and adjourns at 1 p.m. Clemson Extension vegetable specialists Drs. Richard Hassell, Tony Kienath and Powell Smith will be presenters in addition to Melton. If you are considering growing commercial vegetables or small fruits in 2011, this will be an informative event for you.

Red Cross blood drive Tuesday at INVISTA

If you want to find a lost relative in a disaster, go to redcross.org. If are in a disaster and you need a shelter, there's an APP for that. If you need help just surviving until the next day, the Red Cross may be your last chance.
