Spring Fling Trail Ride is April 29

Please join the South Carolina Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation for the annual Boykin Spring Fling Untimed Trail Ride on Saturday, April 29. Riders will have access to the rolling fields, pine plantations, and pristine forested trails of historic Cantey Lane Farm and other nearby private property. The ride includes both a short loop and long loop and is suited for English and Western riders of all skill levels. Lunch will be provided for all participants.

GaL candlelight vigil is April 13

The Cass Elias McCarter Guardian ad Litem Office in Camden will hold a candlelight vigil in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, April 13. The vigil will take place at the Kershaw County Courthouse grounds, 1121 Broad Street, Camden. All members of the community are invited to attend and asked to wear blue to show support for the prevention of child abuse and neglect.

Fourth annual Rotary Wild Game Dinner is May 6

The West Wateree-Lugoff Rotary Club's fourth annual Wild Game Dinner and Silent Auction is scheduled for 6 p.m., Saturday, May 6, at Old McCaskill's Farm on Cantey Lane, just south of I-20. Proceeds go to the West Wateree Rotary Scholarship Fund to benefit Lugoff-Elgin High School seniors.

Food for the Soul golf tourney March 30

The Food for the Soul annual golf tournament will be held at Camden Country Club on March 30, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. and a meal served after the tournament. Putting contests and closest to hole competition will be held and mulligans will be available. A silent auction will be held and it starts at 10 a.m. Drawings for door prizes will be held after the meal. All proceeds benefit FFTS. For more information call Eddie Schoolfield at 432-8391.

Camden First UMC 19th anniversary Sunday

Camden First (formerly known as Trinity) United Methodist Church is celebrating its 19th anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday. Rev. Dr. Charles L. Johnson will be the guest speaker. A retired United Methodist Church minister, he is a native of Charleston. He is the son of the late Rev. and Mrs. A.L. Johnson. He attended Charleston County public schools where he graduated from Bonds-Wilson High School. He is a graduate of Claflin University, ITC-Atlanta and Boston University.

New CLASS room

The Camden Lugoff Area Shag Society recently moved to a new home, The Venue, located at 1020 Broad St. in downtown Camden. Members Barbara Wilkes and Judy Midgett, hold the ribbon as Suzie Morris, president of CLASS, and Phillip Brown, owner of The Venue, cut the ribbon, as members of the Shag club look on. CLASS meets every Thursday night at The Venue.

LWA Annual Meeting is March 25

The Lake Wateree Association will hold its annual meeting at the Rock Bottom Pond facility at 1530 Buck Hill Rd. Ridgeway on March 25. Breakfast starts at 8:30 a.m. with the meeting starting at 9 a.m. Speakers will include representatives from S.C. DNR, Duke Energy, Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation and Kershaw County Sheriff's Office.
