Riders up for Boykin Spring Fling trail

The Boykin Spring Fling Untimed Trail Ride, scheduled for Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., returns to Red Bank Farm in the Boykin community. All proceeds will benefit the S.C. Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation and Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site.

The beat goes on

Can you imagine a journey from Earth to Mars? What would it feel like, look like, or even sound like? Mary Lee Taylor-Kinosian, violinist with The Upton Trio, took a guess for the ensemble's 2012 education project: the History of America's Space Program. Taylor-Kinosian composed a 21-minute "multi-movement" chamber piece that embodied the journey of NASA's "Range Rover" from Earth to Mars.

4-H to offer ATV safety instructor training

The state 4-H organization will offer training for all-terrain vehicle (ATV) safety instructors April 27 at Camp Long in Aiken. Trainers who complete the course will then teach ATV safety to youth, according to Doris McGougan with the local 4-H program.
