Mary Fuller Everhart (third from left) with the Children's Law Center at the University of South Carolina was the guest speaker at a Lunch & Learn Aug. 11 sponsored by the Kershaw County Volunteer Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Program. Everhart spoke about guardians ad litem as mandated reporters. While S.C. law encourages all people to report suspected cases of child abuse or neglect, the law requires that certain professionals report it. Bethune Lions present checks, awards

The Bethune Lions Club had a very busy meeting recently. First, it had a presentation to the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County. To ensure the students at Bethune Elementary School are provided an arts enrichment program, the Bethune Garden Club, Bethune Lions Club and Bethune Woman's Club banded together and presented the (FAC) with checks totaling $1,000. The FAC will provide the arts enrichment program to Bethune Elementary during the 2011-2012 year.
