L-EWA to install standby generator

The Lugoff-Elgin Water Authority (L-EWA) Board of Directors unanimously approved General Manager Mike Hancock's request earlier this month to put out bids for a standby generator at the main water treatment plant. Hancock said it will strengthen the authority's ability to maintain services despite power outages at the station.

Elgin garage fire spreads to other properties

The Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce rescheduled its monthly board of directors meeting from Thursday to next week after a forecast of possible inclement weather.

KCSO Employee of the Month

Beverly Brevard was selected as January's "Employee of the Month" for the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office. Brevard has worked in law enforcement for 22 years, beginning in 1989 as a 911 dispatcher. She began working directly for the sheriff's office in 1995, and now works in the records and sex offender registry.

Annual fireworks display

The Lake Wateree Association (LWA) and the Wateree Homeowners Association Fairfield County (WHOA) will sponosr their annual Fourth of July fireworks display on July 4 around 9:15 p.m. LWA officials said the best place to view is from Clearwater Cove Marina.
