For more than 10 years now, Steve Smith of Camden and a group of local men have been providing some holiday-season amusement by constructing fully-functioning model train sets for the public to enjoy in downtown Camden.

Camden's Michael Kohn, a rookie relief pitcher with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and Camden High School baseball staff will lead this three-hour session beginning at 2 p.m. Dec. 12 at the American Legion Baseball Field.
Post 17 to host oratorical contest
An orientation for potential participants in the James Leroy Belk American Legion Post No. 17 Annual High School Oratorical Contest will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the post's home on West DeKalb Street in Camden. Contest officials will discuss the subject to be used for oration and explain the contest rules.
Williamson finishes basic training
U.S. Air Force Airman Jon L. Williamson graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Camden native W. Ford Graham was recently named senior project manager in the South Carolina Department of Commerce's Global Business Development Division. The division works with county and regional economic development officials to recruit new companies to the state and encourage existing industries to expand their local presence.

Annual fireworks display
