Around 9:40 p.m. Dec. 22, the Lugoff Fire Department (LFD) was dispatched to a structural fire at the Waffle House restaurant on U.S. 601 in Lugoff. Ladder 10 and Engine 10 arrived on the scene to find a light smoke haze throughout the inside of the restaurant and all occupants evacuated, according to LFD Chief Dennis K. Ray. Nannie Seegars made 220 fleece pillows for residents at the Springdale Nursing Home. Her family, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, distributed the pillows to residents and employees on November 15. Seegars wanted to make the pillows to show her appreciation for the nursing home. "Mama has been working on these pillows, tied up with love, for about 10 months and it has been a true labor of love. We pray that God blesses each angel who receives a pillow," Seegar's daughter, Pat Collins said.
