Nannie Seegars made 220 fleece pillows for residents at the Springdale Nursing Home. Her family, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, distributed the pillows to residents and employees on November 15. Seegars wanted to make the pillows to show her appreciation for the nursing home. "Mama has been working on these pillows, tied up with love, for about 10 months and it has been a true labor of love. We pray that God blesses each angel who receives a pillow," Seegar's daughter, Pat Collins said.

A Kershaw County man has been recognized as one of two Hunter Educators of the Year by the International Hunter Education Association (IHEA), a nationwide organization that promotes hunter education and safety. Jack Truesdale's recognition was announced in the Summer 2014 issue of the IHEA-Journal. Truesdale is assistant fire chief for the Lugoff Fire-Rescue Department and teaches hunter education for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
