Deposit accounts, including certificates, received a 20 percent bonus based on dividends received in 2013. Loan accounts (except credit cards) received a 7 percent interest rebate based on total interest paid in 2013.
The Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce wants to recognize businesses that have improved the exterior look of their buildings and is asking for community input. The chamber has presented Community Pride Awards in the past, but Chamber Director Liz Horton told the chamber board of directors at its Jan. 16 meeting that changes are being made in the process.

The 4-minute 28-second video showing the potential of the Central South Carolina MegaSite, is on YouTube and has been sent via e-mail to industries the economic development office hopes to impress.

Suominen Nonwovens' primary product at its Bethune plant is nonwoven roll goods, such as baby wipes, floor mops, toilet wands, alcohol prep pads and undercast wraps. According to Plant Manager Darryl Fournier, its parent company is Suominen Corporation, located in Helskinki, Finland. The plant -- under various names and owners -- has been in Bethune for 60 years, Fournier said.
Regional Bankshares Inc., the holding company for Heritage Community Bank, today released unaudited results of operations and other financial information for the third quarter of 2013. In addition, its board of directors has declared a regular quarterly cash dividend to its common shareholders of $0.04 per common share, payable on November 25 to all shareholders of record as of the close of business on November 18. Future dividends will be subject to board approval.
