First Community Bank expands advisory board

First Community Bank recently announced that Jeffrey R. Graham and Lindsey Kelly Mitcham have joined its Camden Advisory Board. Created in 2006 when First Community Bank merged with the Bank of Camden, the board works to enhance the bank's community presence and outreach to local businesses.

Graham is a Camden native and remains deeply engaged in the life of his community. He served one term as the youngest mayor in South Carolina, 2008-2012, and is currently vice-president of Graham Realty Inc. New logos unveiled for industrial sites

The Kershaw County Economic Development Office, with financial assistance from the Kershaw County Committee of 100, recently created new logos for three of the county's industrial parks. Fans camp out for new Chick-Fil-A in Camden

Twenty-four hours before the doors even opened at 6 a.m. Thursday, more than 225 people began camping out on the grounds of the new Chick-Fil-A. They did so in the hopes of being chosen as one of 100 special Chick-Fil-A fans. It's an event that has become a Chick-Fil-A tradition across the country. Beginning Wednesday at 6 a.m. anyone 18 and over had the opportunity to vie for 100 spots that would earn them a free meal each week for a year.

CBA to hear ‘road diet’ presentation

County unemployment rate improves

Kershaw County's unemployment rate continues to improve, dropping from 6.6 percent in March to 6.2 in April. A year ago, the county's unemployment rate sat at 7.7 percent. Employment rose from 27,333 in March to 27,458 in April. In April 2012, the number of employed persons in Kershaw County was 27,163.

Chamber hands President’s Award to Thiel Shull

The Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce presented its President's Award to Laura Thiel Shull. Saying that Thiel Shull "gives freely of her time to various organizations, and always with a smile," Chamber Board President Chip Galloway presented Thiel with the award during the chamber's 103rd Annual Meeting, Awards Gala and Reception. The gala took place Thursday at the historic Robert Mills Courthouse. KershawHealth Executive Vice President and COO/CFO Mike Bunch assisted Galloway with the presentation.
