Brandon Oliver was recently promoted to Camden Branch Manager. He started with SAFE in May of 2009 as a teller at SAFE's Manning branch. In November 2010, Oliver was promoted to Office Manager at SAFE's Santee location.

Twenty-four hours before the doors even opened at 6 a.m. Thursday, more than 225 people began camping out on the grounds of the new Chick-Fil-A. They did so in the hopes of being chosen as one of 100 special Chick-Fil-A fans. It's an event that has become a Chick-Fil-A tradition across the country. Beginning Wednesday at 6 a.m. anyone 18 and over had the opportunity to vie for 100 spots that would earn them a free meal each week for a year.
Members of the Camden Business Alliance (CBA) and their guests will have the chance to learn more about the city of Camden's proposed Broad Street "road diet" at the alliance's next Breakfast Before Hours to be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. The meeting will take place on the mezzanine level of TenEleven Galleria, 1011 Broad St., and feature representatives from the S.C. Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and URS, the city of Camden's engineering consultant firm.
Kershaw County's unemployment rate continues to improve, dropping from 6.6 percent in March to 6.2 in April. A year ago, the county's unemployment rate sat at 7.7 percent. Employment rose from 27,333 in March to 27,458 in April. In April 2012, the number of employed persons in Kershaw County was 27,163.
The Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce presented its President's Award to Laura Thiel Shull. Saying that Thiel Shull "gives freely of her time to various organizations, and always with a smile," Chamber Board President Chip Galloway presented Thiel with the award during the chamber's 103rd Annual Meeting, Awards Gala and Reception. The gala took place Thursday at the historic Robert Mills Courthouse. KershawHealth Executive Vice President and COO/CFO Mike Bunch assisted Galloway with the presentation.
In 1995, Antioch Elementary School (AES) closed its doors for the last time. The school, constructed in 1956, later became the home of Kershaw County Head Start. Johnny Outlaw, a former AES student, took what was once a dilapidated building with a missing roof due to a storm and victim to numerous accounts of vandalism and transformed it into a community center hosting a café, auditorium and space for a sheltered flea market along with many other improvements.

Springdale Plaza has a new owner. In mid-February, ProVest PDQ Sprindale LLC, part of a merger between ProVest Properties, an investment company, and PDQ Properties Corp. Officially, according to a deed filed at the Kershaw County Registrar of Deeds Office, ProVest PDQ paid $10 and "other valuable consideration" to DDR DownREIT LLC, an Ohio limited liability company. DDR used to be known as Developers Diversified Realty Corp.
