Saturday night, Lugoff-Elgin High School hosted its annual Mr. L-E contest. Eighteen students competed for the title. Winners were Mr. Congeniality, Austin Branham; 1st Runner Up, Dakota Jones; Mr. L-E 2014, Gunnar Branham; Jr. Mr. L-E 2014, Gunnar Catoe. Whitney Clendening was voted as Ms. Sweetheart.

Lugoff-Elgin High School held it's 38th annual Miss L-EHS pageant January 25. Nineteen girls competed for the title of Junior Miss L-EHS. An Elgin doctor is now one of fewer than 20 physicians to be federally certified to perform truck driver medical exams. Dr. Chester Ferguson of Elgin spent several months going through the process to become a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Certified Medical Examiner.
