Colonial Cup 10K, 5K races set for Nov. 10

The 18th annual Marion DuPont Scott Colonial Cup 10K Road Race and BlueCross BlueShield 5K Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site, to benefit those receiving services from the Kershaw County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs.

Powers & Gregory sends coaches out with a league championship

After being runners-up in 2011, Powers and Gregory Heating and Cooling won the 2012 KCRD Mite League girls' softball title with a 12-1 record. Coaches Frankie Robinson and Benjie Krenz said they could not have been more proud of their young ladies.

The Kershaw County Recreation Department and the Camden Kiwanis Club will hold the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition on Saturday, Sept. 22 beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the Larry Doby Complex in Camden.

Lexington-Kershaw U18s win opening soccer match

The Lexington County-Kershaw U18 and U16 boys' soccer teams traveled to Lexington on Saturday in what was the first game of the season for Coach Aron Taylor and Coach Josh Witt's U18 boys' team. And the local entry started off with a 5-2 win against BCS Arsenal.

KC 95 Lady Strikers soccer team hosts benefit golf tournament

The LCSC Kershaw 95 Lady Strikers Soccer Team, a first-year girls U-17 soccer team made up of varsity and junior varsity players from both Camden and Lugoff-Elgin high schools, is hosting a fundraising golf tournament for the program on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the White Pine Golf Club in Camden.

Ballers heat things up by winning tournaments in Hot-lanta

As if the summer could not get any better for the Camden-based Team Ballers AAAU youth basketball franchise, a pair of the squads closed out a memorable 2012 summer campaign by capturing a pair of championship in the End of Summer Youth Championship Tournament, sponsored by Tournaments R Us, in Atlanta on Aug. 3-5.

Chesterfield rallies in last at-bat to top KC Northern

Chesterfield scored three times in the bottom of the sixth inning to overtake Kershaw County Northern 5-4, in the opening game of the District 5 Dixie Youth baseball tournament being played in Pageland.

Florida learns that S.C. has (hoops) talent

On July 16-20, the SC-BALLERS journeyed to Florida to compete in nationals. Both teams came in third place. The 8th grade team finished with an 8-1 record while the 11th grade team finished with a 5-2 mark.
