THE NORTH CENTRAL VOLLEYBALL team won Saturday’s Carolina Challenge in Boonetown. Kneeling are, from left, Aaliyah White, Peyton Holley and Madison Dixon. Standing are McKenna Arrants, Rhi Hendrix, Alayna Johnson and Tierra Preston.

For the North Central volleyball team, winning does not stop with regular season dual matches.

Last Saturday, the Lady Knights --- who are now unbeaten in 12 dual matches --- proved to be rude hostesses by winning their own 13th annual Carolina Challenge volleyball tourney at The Castle in Boonetown.

Andy Johnson’s girls won all seven matches in which they played including defeating Lugoff-Elgin in the championship match by taking both sets in the best-of-three finale.

Three NC players earned all-tournament honors. The trio were: hitter Alayna Johnson, Libero Peyton Holley and setter Aaliyah White.

The Lady Knights swept through pool play, defeating Thomas Sumter Academy, Indian Land and Gilbert, all in two straight to be ranked second behind 5A Sumter in the gold division going into the single-elimination portion of the tournament

NC’s lone loss in a set came in a 2-1 victory against Gilbert in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, the hostesses took down Indian Land in two sets.

In the other half of the bracket, L-E punched its ticket into the finals as Katie Ham and company defeated Florence Christian in the semis.

Lady Knights thump Lee Central: On Tuesday, the Lady Knights improved to 10-0 in Region 4-AA play by breezing past Lee Central, 25-2, 25-6 and 25-5.
