CHS divides doubleheaders with Crestwood, River Bluff

Camden split four basketball games on Friday night and Saturday afternoon with the boys’ and girls’ team winning once each.

On Friday, the Bulldogs used 23 points from junior forward Trajon Pate to take a 72-56 victory over visiting Crestwood.

Senior forward Dwight Coleman was next for Ron McKie’s troops with 12 points who led, 34-25, at halftime.

In the opener, Crestwood handed the Lady Bulldogs a 33-25 in a game in which the visiting Lady Knights led, 13-10, at the break.

Saturday, Camden hosted 5A River Bluff in a afternoon twinbill.

In the girls’ contest, Lady Bulldog seventh-grader Joyce Edwards poured home 22 points in leading Natalie Jeffcoat’s squad to a 58-33 win.

Camden, which led, 32-13, at halftime, also received 16 points from senior guard Tiyana Peterson and seven from sophomore guard J’Teanna Lee.

In the nightcap, the visiting Gators handed Camden an 8044 setback despite 12 points from senior guard Nyciere Green and nine more from Pate.

Both Camden squads will carry 2-1 records into tonight’s home games with North Central.
