The Lugoff Garden Club meets Monday at the home of Sarah Holmberg on Lake Road in Ridgeway. Co-hostess is Gay Lilly. This is the club’s last meeting for the 2016-2017 season. The club will have a Plant/Seed Exchange. Holding a plant/seed exchange (swap) is a great way to share extra plants, acquire some new plants and share some fellowship with like-minded gardeners. A plant swap is exactly what it sounds like -- a forum for swapping out plants with fellow gardeners. Seed and plant exchanges allow members to come together and share seeds, cuttings and transplants from their own gardens to swap with others. It’s also a good way to make sure everyone has new varieties of plants without having to buy them.

Plants for exchange are potted and/or wrapped separately and labeled with care instructions and bloom color. Care instructions have tips that will help the plant’s new owner to get their plant off to a good start and also  be successful enough to divide the plant again in a few years.

The yearly plant exchange is always successful on all fronts, as a way to share ideas, obtain gorgeous free plants and re-purposed pots accumulated over the last few years. In addition, LGC members will each bring a salad of their choice to share with their fellow members.

Lugoff Garden Club meets September through May of each year.  Social hour starts at 6:30 p.m. and  the meeting starts at 7 p.m. Officers for the coming year 2017-2018 are Sandy McCombs, president; Charlene Henderson, vice president; Dottie Mowbray, treasurer; Gay Lilly, secretary; and Frances Williams, correspondence.
