A funeral service to celebJoseph Banks Morton, 86, of Camden, SC passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 in Great Falls, SC.

Joe was born July 25, 1930 in Stanly County, NC to the late Claude Bryan Morton and the late Bethie Almond Morton. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Marion Billy Morton, Cabot Coolidge Morton; and former wife, Jane Hubbard.

The graveside service will be at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Canton Baptist Church Cemetery, 24615 Endy Road, Albemarle, NC.

He is survived by his brother, Jack Morton of Rome, GA and Albemarle, NC; daughter, Elizabeth Payton of Granite Quarry, NC; and three grandchildren, Samuel Payton, and Elijah Payton, both of Carrboro, NC and Caleb Payton, who’s a member of the United States Coast Guard stationed in St. Petersburg, FL.

Joe honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, and was a 1955 graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He retired from Phillips 66 Company as a senior marketing representative after 35 years of dedicated service. He also worked for Cary Oil Company (1990-1997), Sunburst Realty (1997-2000), and Dearybury Oil (2000-2004).
