A funeral service to celebrate the life of Alice Applewhite Boykin, 86, of Camden, SC, was held Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church Rev. Steve Patterson officiated. Burial was in Quaker Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Food for the Soul, 110 E. DeKalb Street, Camden, SC 29020 or Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, 1206 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Mrs. Boykin died Monday, January 8, 2018. She was born in Canetuck, NC, the daughter of the late Major Ellis & Teshie Applewhite. She graduated from McBee High School and attended Winthrop University. Mrs. Boykin was a real estate sales and administrative agent with deLoach & Guy Century 21. She also worked at the Kershaw County Library as a circulation specialist. Her greatest love was delivering and reading books to the homebound. Mrs. Boykin also worked at the dental offices of Dr. Moss & Owens as an office clerk. She enjoyed playing the piano, which she did by ear, and keeping up with her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities. 

Alice is survived by her sons, Anthony E. and Martha C. Boykin of Camden and John Christopher and Jessica Boykin of Mandeville, LA; grandchildren, Elizabeth S. Carrington (Jac) and John C. Boykin, III (Jennifer) of Camden; one brother and one sister and five great grandchildren.

Alice was predeceased by her husband, John C. Boykin, Jr.; her parents; and three sisters and three brothers.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
