John Hickman, aged 86, of Camden, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018. He was one of eleven children born to Thomas and Annie Hickman in Warrington, England. Mr. Hickman served in the Royal Army Veterinary Corp as a mounted soldier. In 1962 he immigrated to the U.S. and worked as a race horse jockey and farrier.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, from 11:00 a.m.  to noon. Memorials may be made to the Thiel-Myer Pet Adoption Center, 128 Black River Rd., Camden, SC 29020.

Mr. Hickman is survived by his sons, Dwayne V. Hickman of Richmond, VA and Jonathan T. Hickman of Camden; and grandchildren, Britainy Hickman, Christopher Hickman, and Tyler Jaramillo.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
