Camden squads have little problem with FC

Playing some 40 miles away from each other, the Camden boys’ and girls’ soccer teams both posted shutouts over Fairfield Central as the two CHS teams opened play in Region 4-AAA with victories.

Neal Blank scored two goals and assisted on two others as Jerry Jones’ Bulldogs romped past the Griffins, 7-0.

Hunter Webb and J.D. Myers added two goals each for the 2-2 winners who also received a goal from Jorge Navarro.

In addition to Blank’s pair of assists, teammates Jouse Rojas, Santiago Rubio and Ryan Robles each added an assist.

The Camden girls blitzed the Lady Griffins, 15-0, in a Friday match played at the CHS Athletic Complex on Ehrenclou Drive.

The win came following a tough 2-1 setback at the hands of Brookland-Cayce on Thursday.

B-C led, 1-0, at halftime. Camden’s lone goal came off the foot of forward Chloe Grein.

Camden vs. Lugoff-Elgin soccer matches changed due to weather: Due to inclement weather on Monday, both the boys’ and girls’ soccer matches between Camden and Lugoff-Elgin were pushed back to Wednesday night.

The Camden boys will host the Demons on Wednesday in a 7 p.m. start at the CHS Athletic Complex on Ehrenclou Drive. The girls’ match will be played at the same time on Wednesday inside Lugoff-Elgin Stadium
