Three of the 104 players who registered for the “United We Serve” Pickleball Tournament at the Tennis Center of Camden and Pickleball Plaza play an early round match on Saturday. Although the center, which opened in February, hosted two pickleball clinics, Saturday and Sunday’s tournament was the first pickleball tournament to be held in Camden. The event served as a fundraiser for the United Way of Kershaw County. According to tournament organizers, two people more than 80 years old participated in the tournament, including a 92-year-old man. While the event drew mostly people age 50 and over, a number of people in their 20s joined in as well. The C-I will have more on the “United We Serve” tournament in an upcoming edition.
