Woman dies from injuries suffered in collision

A Cassatt woman died Sunday, three days after being involved in a vehicle collision on U.S. 1 North in Cassatt.

According to Kershaw County Coroner David West, Virginia Spitzer, 72, of Camden, pulled out of a driveway in front of another vehicle on U.S. 1 around 10:35 p.m. Thursday. West said Spitzer passed away at Palmetto Richland Hospital at 12:45 p.m. Sunday due to the blunt force trauma injuries she sustained in Thursday’s collision.

The S.C. Highway Patrol had no information about Thursday’s collision on its phone message board as of Monday morning.
