A still shot from a video of Tuesday night’s armed robbery at the Lugoff Bojangles near I-20 Exit 92. The image has been lightened in order to bring out some details, including the suspect’s restaurant-style shoes, the extended magazine on the suspect’s gun, camouflage cap and cold weather mask. The video can be viewed on the Chronicle-Independent’s Facebook page.

Around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday -- about the same time most candidates in this year’s elections were either celebrating their wins or lamenting their losses -- a man robbed the Bojangles in Lugoff attached to a Shell gasoline station near I-20 Exit 92.

According to a statement issued by Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) Capt. Steve Knafelc, the man came into the restaurant through the drive-through side door, jumped over the counter and went straight to the cash register while armed with a black gun. The suspect handed an employee a bag and demanded she put money from the register into the bag. He then ran out of the restaurant and fled in a waiting vehicle.

Knafelc said the suspect wore all black clothes -- including pants that appeared to be ripped and dirty -- black restaurant-style shoes, a camouflage cap and a cold weather mask. The gun appeared loaded with an extended magazine.

“Also, the subject is tall and somewhat thin,” Knafelc said in the email.

Anyone with information about the suspect or Tuesday night’s robbery is asked to contact the KCSO at (803) 425-1512.

A video of the robbery can be viewed on the C-I’s Facebook page.
