Celebrating our accomplishments

Autumn’s crisp air and bright colors encourage us to venture out and enjoy our exquisite hometown.  This delightful time of the year inspires us to reflect upon our many accomplishments and to envision a future with limitless potential.  This is a time when our great nation pauses to remember the valor of our beloved veterans and when we count our blessings, embracing a thanksgiving state of mind.  It is indeed a beautiful time of year!

As I reflect upon our year of accomplishments, I am proud of the projects completed, the projects occurring now, and the strategic plan for future projects that will continue to move our city forward.  We proudly celebrate the fact that another entire section of undergrounding of utilities has been accomplished.  The infrastructure work of the Kendal Mill Village has been completed.  Currently, our downtown Main Street Project is in full swing and the AARP Alley looks amazing!  Our non-profit organizations continue to offer needed services and continue to bring the arts to the forefront.  We have embraced new businesses and residents the entire year and anticipate even more growth. Additionally, a cutting-edge elementary school, an amazing tennis complex, creative tourism events, and new restaurants and shops reflect the bright future of Camden. Our strategic plan is full of innovative ways to continually improve our community.  Yes, as I reflect, I am proud of you.  I am proud of our city leaders and staff.  I am proud of what we are doing together.

November affords us the opportunity to remember and recognize all military veterans and express appreciation for their service.  We will never forget to honor the brave men and women who stood and those who now stand in defense of America.  With sincere gratitude, we extend a heartfelt salute to all veterans, including the many veterans of our great nation who shine brightly in our community.

Let us never forget to be thankful.  Just as the forefathers of our country gathered in 1621 to give thanks, let us all do so this Thanksgiving and every day of the year.  With a grateful heart, I sincerely appreciate all that you bring to our community. Everyone possesses so many reasons to show gratitude. Bonfires to fire places, hot chocolate to tea -- it is the perfect time of year to enjoy family and our colorful community. Please continue to enjoy our hometown as we make progress and experience positive growth. Camden remains a safe community in which to work, to live, and to play. Yes, it is such a beautiful, vibrant season in Camden!

Remember, your Camden City Council is always open to your ideas.  As we approach 2018, please join us for a council meeting, or just give us a call.  We enjoy hearing from you at any time!

May all the blessings of Thanksgiving be yours.
