KCSD kudos

We would like to take a moment to offer our congratulations to the Kershaw County School District. Not only did the class of 2017’s high school seniors achieve the highest graduation rate of all time for the district, several students -- a dozen, actually -- nailed perfect scores on standardized tests during the 2016-2017 school year. The four year graduation rate rose from 91.3 percent to 92.2 percent; it jumps to 94.4 percent with the inclusion of students who graduate in five years.

In addition, five students earned the maximum score possible on the S.C. Pass, a statewide assessment for students in 4th, 6th and 8th grades in science, and 5th and 7th grades in social studies. Seven others earned perfect scores on the S.C. READY test, a statewide assessment of English language arts and mathematics administered to all students in 3rd through 8th grades.

These are both achievements worth celebrating and we believe they make a strong statement as to the commitment and dedication of our teachers and administrators as well as the enthusiasm and motivation of our students.

Congratulations, and as always, onward and upward.
