We are pleased to join in the celebration of the opening of the new Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC) campus located near I-20 and Exit 98 off U.S. 521. While classes have been underway at the new site since early January, the official ribbon cutting ceremony was held Feb. 8.

We are also pleased that the campus will honor the memory and legacy of the late Fred R. Sheheen, a lifelong and tireless advocate and champion of education and educational opportunities.

CCTC has maintained a presence in Kershaw County for some time, with a satellite campus in the basement of the County Government Center for a number of years. However, the new campus not only meets a major need, but opens up many collaborative opportunities at many levels. It is not only an extremely important educational option and asset; it will play a vital role in the economic development fortunes of Kershaw County.

It is safe to say that this is, in fact, a milestone in the building of Kershaw County’s future.

We thank all involved in bringing this project to fruition and expect to see great things come from it.
