The Kershaw County Board of School Trustees is getting closer to naming a new superintendent to replace Dr. Frank Morgan, who retires at the end of June.

KCSD reviewed some 57 applicants from 19 states in this search process; they are now down to the final three: Dr. William (Shane) Robbins, who is currently superintendent of Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation in Fontville, Ind., Dr. Jeffrey (Jeff) Wilson, current superintendent of White County School System in Cleveland, Ga., and KCSD’s own Mr. Timothy (Tim) Hopkins, who is currently executive director of Instruction for the school district.

That all three have impressive, accomplished backgrounds goes without saying. However, qualifications on paper are but one aspect of the job, which is why we are glad to see the “meet and greet” receptions the district is holding this week as part of the process of the final selection. These are wonderful opportunities for everyone to personally meet each candidate and give your feedback to those who will ultimately make the decision.

Indeed, we strongly encourage all who are interested in the future of our school district to attend these events if you have the opportunity to do so.
