Meet me at the River

We strongly encourage people to attend the upcoming “Meet me at the River” event, scheduled for Aug. 18 at the new riverfront property Kershaw County recently purchased for the purpose of building a park.

Planning for the property, located on the Wateree River just across the bridge from Camden, is currently underway. In fact, several public input sessions have been held -- and more will be scheduled -- as planners refine and incorporate ideas generated during these public sessions.

In the meantime, Kershaw County has made the effort to introduce the public to the property to give people an up-close-and-personal look at what is currently there now as well and hopefully jump start ideas, conversations and enthusiasm for what could be done there.

The community needs green spaces, the more the better. Add to the mix a unique opportunity with a beautiful piece of waterfront property and the possibilities become truly endless.

We don’t know what will ultimately come to fruition there, but we can honestly say that we’ve seen similar opportunities in other communities ultimately reap incredible benefits for the citizens of those communities.

We believe great things can come from this if we work together and do it right.
