The Kershaw County community served by Providence South Carolina Heart Center is very blessed to have an exceptional group of doctors and employees who support and live out the mission and vision for patients and family members each day.

Recently, Dr. Blackburn, a proud North Carolinian and Wake Forest heart surgery alumnus informed me recently he was given an opportunity to return home.

To say that Dr. Blackburn was a compassionate and competent doctor who possessed qualities of leadership, helpfulness and caring is putting it mildly.

It is my belief he believed without good health, a meaningful life is much more difficult on the earthly journey.

This African-American and senior citizen will truly always remember his patience and demeanor. He preferred to think that his patients had goodness in their hearts and worked for what was theirs.

On a daily basis I thank Jehovah God and Dr. Blackburn for the years of service provided by Providence South Carolina Heart Center here in Camden.

It is also my belief Dr. Blackburn is a real hero who served humanity in a way that Jehovah God wants all mankind to be.
