Meet Our Staff
Mike Mischner has been publisher of the Camden newspaper for more than 40 years. Additionally, he is the publisher of the Camden Media Co. group of newspapers and magazines in the midlands of South Carolina.
Christina Boykin began working for the Chronicle-Independent in December 2013. In addition to handling all of the bookkeeping duties, she also handles Human Resources and some of the Circulation duties.
Shannon started working at the Chronicle-Independent in 2012 as a receptionist and now works in the Billing department.
Betsy Greenway is the advertising director of the Chronicle-Independent, as well as General Manager of Camden Media Co. Betsy has more than 40 years of experience in the newspaper industry.
Martin L Cahn
Martin L. Cahn began working for the Chronicle-Independent in July 2000 as a staff writer. Since then, he has served as assistant editor and editor. In addition to editing duties, he also writes most of the articles for the Chronicle-Independent..
Tom Didato has been the sports editor of the Chronicle-Independent for more than 32 years, having joined the staff in 1986. He has won numerous awards and also edits the Camden Horse & Equestrian magazine.
Camden Media Co. Senior Writer
Gee started working with Camden Media Co. 18 years ago and is currently editor of the Lee County Observer. In addition to her editing duties, she is covering Kershaw County Council and Kershaw County Board of School Trustees meeting for the Chronicle-Independent.
Stephanie Keel joined the C-I as a feature writer in January 2021. She is also the marketing director for the Arts Center of Kershaw County. Email story suggestions to her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Carol Smith started working at the Chronicle-Independent in May 1996. She has worked at the front desk and in Classified Advertising for more than 22 years. She is now also working in the Circulation Department.
Nancy Wilson started working in 2005 at Camden Media Co.'s Lee County Observer in Bishopville. In 2017, she came to the Chronicle-Independent, where she work at the front desk as a receptionist and also handles legal advertisements
Currently the C-I production director, Barbara Stevens came to work for The Camden Chronicle in March, 1979. In 1983, she joined the merged Chronicle-Independent as an ad designer and typesetter, and helped in page paste-up.
Senior Graphic Artist
Barbara Jones has worked for the Chronicle-Independent for 40 years starting the last week of January 1979 as ad compositor and proof reader. Her duties now include designing all ads for the newspapers.
