Mid Carolina Credit Union recently held its 56th Annual membership meeting. During the meeting, members were informed of MCCU’s newest products and services including CardValet and Mobile Pay as well as combating fraud, along with an update on the progress of the purchased property on US 1 in Lugoff. Plans are to break ground on the new Lugoff facility this summer; this expansion will enhance Mid Carolina’s growth opportunities while also making the credit union more secure and convenient to its current membership.

Volunteer elections were held with the following members elected to the Board of Directors: Chip Galloway, Robert Murphy and Wanda Swann. Myron McCaskill was elected to serve a three-year term on the credit union’s Supervisory Committee. During the event, over $3,100 in cash and door prizes were given away along with each of the 309 members in attendance receiving a stainless tumbler, umbrella, mobile wallet and mobile charging kit with the credit union’s logo imprinted.

For the last 11 years, MCCU has awarded scholarships to credit union members who are graduating from local high schools. This year Mid Carolina awarded six $500 scholarships to deserving students. Those students were recognized at the meeting. They are Emily Branham, Logan Coates, Cameron Jenkins, Kenley Logan, John C. Tanner, Jr. and Katherine White.

The credit union also held its fourth annual food drive during the event, which again grew and exceeded expectations. The Christian Community Ministries Food Pantry was also onsite helping with collections and personally thanking members for their generosity.
