MCCU opens its doors to Blythewood community

For the first time in its history, Mid Carolina Credit Union (MCCU) will open its doors outside of Kershaw County. MCCU will open its new full-service Blythewood branch Tuesday at 10350 Wilson Blvd. It will become the credit union’s fourth branch.

The Blythewood branch will be open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with lobby hours extended until 5:30 p.m. and drive through until 6 p.m. on Fridays. The lobby will close daily for lunch from 1 to 2:15 p.m., but the drive through will continue to stay open.

Mid Carolina Credit Union offers a full range of products and services including checking, savings, IRA’s, auto loans, credit card, home mortgages, mobile, e-services and more.

“Mid Carolina CU has found a new home in Blythewood and I’m excited to be part of this growing, vibrant community,” Blythewood Branch Manager Brad Lewis said. “We are looking forward to building relationships and meeting the financial needs of our community.”

MCCU will host weeklong grand opening celebratory events Aug. 24-28, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at noon. Refreshments will be served. Daily giveaways to be given with new accounts, and the weeklong celebration ends with a free community shred event and food drive on Aug. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., during which members and the public can bring up to four banker boxes of paper materials to be shredded for free.

Donated canned and non-perishable food items will be donated to the local food pantry in Blythewood. Additionally, MCCU will hold weekly prize drawings starting the week of Aug. 17 through Sept. 28, and monthly cash grand prize drawings through October. Area residents are invited stop in to check out their products and register for the drawings.

“We’re committed to providing members with increased access to our products and services and we’re pleased to open a branch in Blythewood. This location complements our existing branch network and our plans for growth,”  MCCU President and CEO Scott Conley said. “Now, our many members that live or work in the north-east and Blythewood areas have a more convenient branch for all their banking needs. We also welcome new members from the area and look forward to providing them with the personalized service that our existing members are already accustomed to.”

MCCU is backed by the full faith of the federal government with NCUA insurance. Each depositor is covered to at least $250,000 on all types of deposit accounts. MCCU is a member-owned financial organization, serving members for more than 50 years. Membership is open to anyone that lives, works or attends school in Kershaw or Richland County.
