Oxleys say good-bye to Sheridan’s Hallmark
Oxleys
Fred and Sheridan “Sheri” Oxley, of Sheridan’s Hallmark, stop for a moment in their shop in Springdale Plaza. The Oxleys are retiring after 37 years in business, having purchased a previously closed Hallmark shop in 1983 in Dusty Bend. They moved the store to Springdale Plaza in 1991. A combination of things came together to say it was “time” to retire this year, especially after the COVID-19 novel coronavirus pandemic reached Camden, although they had been thinking about retirement since April 2019. After 37 years, Sheri and Fred Oxley are retiring from owning and operating Sheridan’s Hallmark. Sheri, originally from Statesville, N.C., and Fred, who grew up in Laurens, were living in Columbia in 1983 when the opportunity to run a Hallmark card store came up.
