Polo will return to the historic Camden Polo Field on Sunday, May 22 with the playing of the third annual Aberdeen Polo Match, sponsored by Aberdeen Catery. The horses and riders, pitting a pair of four-player teams made up of players from throughout the region, will take to the field six times for seven and a half-minute chukkers, starting at 1 p.m. The gates to the field open at 11 a.m. The Camden Polo Field, off North Broad Street (U.S. 521) in Camden’s Dusty Bend district, is the second-oldest active polo field in the United States with thousands of ponies having galloped over its expansive grass field, with riders in tow, smacking a white ball for 117 years. The field was also the apple of developers’ eyes 16 years ago.
